Thanks for coming, Part Deuce

Our evening student meeting was a great success, bringing our total attendance at our initial meetings to over 50 people (!) We basically discussed the same things that were recapped in the previous post on this blog, including having a Texas hold-em poker tourney to raise some dinero, which we just have to check for the legality of before we proceed sooner rather than later. Despite the general enthusiasm, no one submitted any t-shirt slogans, so I'm going to invite everyone to post their slogans on this blog as comments ot this post. Other than that, all there is to say is we'll be making committee assignments by next week and we can get to work making t-shirts, meeting Dean Treanor's challenge for the campus to provide 100,000 hours of community service, building our alumni network, and getting some events going.

Thanks for the turnout, you're helping to take back America!

P.S. Also, my friend Edgar who works for the state party is looking for volunteers this friday to work at a dinner. These things are a ton of fun- you basically spend an hour setting shit up and then you get free attendence to a high-end fundraiser. Last time I did one of these, I met Eliot Spitzer, Charlie Rangel, Fernando Ferrer, Anthony Weiner, Gifford Miller, and the head of the State Party, all at one event. So to sum it up, I recommend doing it.

Here's the info:

The New York State Democratic Committee seeks 10 – 15 volunteers for
the NYSDC Fall Business Meeting in New York City on Friday,
September 30, 2005. All volunteers must arrive at the Sheraton New
York (811 7th Ave New York, NY 10019) no later than 7:30 a.m. All
volunteers must be in business attire. Every major NY state
politician will be there, including AG Spitzer, Hillary, Chuck, and
more. Great event to help your party, network, and have some fun.

Please contact Edgar Santana at (212) 725-8825, ext. 248 or via
email edgars@nysdems.org if you would like to volunteer.

I just wanted to show everyone how easy it is to post a comment; some other t-shirt ideas I've thought of are having a picture of Karl Rove's face with the word "traitor" stamped across his forehead, and the same with Dick Cheney and "psycho." Also perhaps a shirt that says "thou shalt not kill" -God; "Let's kill Hugo Chavez"- Pat Robertson. Feedback welcome.

Also, at the bake sale, how bout we bring a ton of brownies and emphasize them by marketing Bush's quote of "you're doing a great job, Brownie" to former FEMA jerkoff Michael Brown, and use the brownie sales to fund Katrina releif?

possibly. she would need to know: 1. how many shirts we would want made, 2. how much we are looking to spend, 3. if we would provide the design or let them make something for us. basically they need to be sure it's cost effective for them to do a custom job.
