Debate!

This Thursday, our very own Zach Neeley and Bobby Delay will be debating two representatives from the Fordham Law Republicans about why the Democrats should take over congress.

Where: Room 311

When: Thursday, Nov. 2, 12:30 PM

Food: Will be served.

See you there?

UPDATE:

Turnout was huge...

  • ...Bobby and Zach KICKED ASS...

  • ...

  • >Best Line:"What's the difference between Bill Clinton and George W. Bush? Bill Clinton only screwed one person at a time!"

  • Best question not asked:

"The founding fathers intended the judiciary to be insulated from political concerns so it can fulfill its duty of making unpopular but correct interpretations of our constitution, such as in Brown v. Board of Education. Why does the republican congress think this is a bad thing, and as Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) did, sometimes advocate the murder of federal judges?"

    Inspirational Message

As I write this, we have 2 weeks until the midterm elections of 2006.
In 2 weeks, we will have one day to right the wrongs that have been
wrought on our country and the world by the bush administration. One
day to get justice for Katrina, Iraq, corruption, incompetence, the
budget deficit, the environment, reproductive rights, gay rights,
civil rights, human rights, education, America's tarnished reputation,
democracy, and freedom itself. We have one day to start confronting
these problems and that day is two weeks from today.

On Wednesday (tomorrow) there will be a voter protection training on
from 6:00 to 7:30 at Cardozo Law School in Room 1008. Cardozo is at 55
    Fifth Avenue (at 12th Street).

This weekend we will do canvassing for congressional challenger Diane Farrell
    (CT-04).

One day next weekend we will do canvassing in westchester for
congressional challenger John Hall and a State Senate candidate in a
contiguous district. The other day we will canvass for congressional and
challenger Fordham Law Democrat (class of '95) Dave Mejiason Long
Island. Then on election day, we will coordinate with other NYC law
schools to man voting booths with law students to ensure everyone gets
entitled to their rights to vote.

If you haven't been active so far that is fine, but in these next two
weeks, there are no more excuses. There might never be a better
opportunity to in our lifetimes to draw a line in the sand and say
enough is enough. The time is now and the country is yours for the
taking. This opportunity might never come again. We have one day.
    Let's make it count.

Third Stop: Sending Fordham Law Democrat Dave Mejias to the United States Congress!

    Hey Everyone,

First, change in schedule. We are going to campaign for Dave Mejias on SUNDAY. Mejias is a Fordham Law Alum- class of 1995- and has been a county legislator since 2003 - in fact he was the first Latino ever elected in Nassau County! Check out his website at http://daveforamerica.com

We are going to meet in Forest Hills, Queens at 10:30am. Take the E or F train to "Continential Ave." From there, we will drive to Strong Island and help our fellow Fordham Alum. Reply to this email or email me at rdelay@hotmail.com if you plan on coming with us and I'll give you more details about where we will meet up.

Hope to see you guys there on SUNDAY! If you couldnt make it to the first 2 campaign stops, try to make this one. The past 2 have been a lot of fun and we will be helping a Fordham Alum.

    Stay Blue,

    Fordham Law Democrats Board
